A Prequel Show “Tales of Dunk and Egg” Is in the Makings at HBO

An on-screen adaptation of the saga of “Tales of Dunk and Egg,” which is a prequel to the story that was relayed in the mega-hit HBO show “Game of Thrones” is in the makings at HBO. The news has arrived courtesy of a report published by Variety, which has got the knowledge from its sources.

The show will be based on the fantasy story penned by George R.R. Martin. The show will explore the characters, which have already been mentioned in the books and in the TV show. In particular, the show will explore the characters “Ser Duncan the Tall” and a famous character named “Aegon V Targaryen” (Egg), who will be shown in his younger version. The prequel show will take the viewers 90 years before the happenings of the saga “A Song of Ice and Fire.”

George R.R. Martin has written and published three novels in the saga of “Tales of Dunk and Egg” up until now. The first one is “The Hedge Knight,” which was released in 1998, “The Mystery Knight,” which was released in 2010, “The Sworn Sword,” which was released in 2003. The three stories were then republished in 2015 as a collection which was titled “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.”

The development of the show is still at a very premature stage, and nobody has been signed in. However, it has been revealed from the insiders that HBO has all intentions to see out the successful development of “Tales of Dunk and Egg” as they have a great desire to utilize the popularity and financial success of “Game of Thrones.”

The representatives from both HBO and the writer George R.R. Martin have declined to talk to Variety about anything related to “Tales of Dunk and Egg.”

If the prequel series does make its way to the big screen, it would be the third series based on the works of George R. R. Martin. The first one being the highly revered “Game of Thrones.” The other one being the “House of the Dragon,” which currently has the scheduled release date in the year 2022.

The prequel show will relay the events before the infamous civil war, which is commonly referred to in the books as the “Dance of Dragons.”

The fans of the Game of Thrones world have been in demand for years. They were hoping that HBO would finally adapt them when the primary show ended in 2019. They were anticipating “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” to be one of the prequel series to be adapted on the screen. However, George R.R. Martin later clarified that HBO had no intention of adapting the story of Dunk and Egg at that time.

Nevertheless, we must be reminded that even if the show reaches the production stage, there is no guarantee that it will make its way to the screens of the viewers. A Game of Thrones prequel titled “Bloodmoon” starring Naomi Watts even reached the production stage for its pilot, but the show was ultimately dumped. The script for the show was written by Jane Goldman.
