The Mind-Bending Trailer of “Synchronic” Gets Released

Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead have created another science fiction in which their protagonist Anthony Mackie enters a psychedelic exploration.

What’s interesting about the directors is that despite the effort and money they have put into, they have rejected the notion of releasing the film at this hour. They have gone on record in saying that they “do not endorse the film’s theatrical release.”

The Netflix film “The Endless” gave the duo enormous fame and a cult following after it became the most-watched film on the streaming giant’s platform. They are returning with “Synchronic” but not with a chest-beating clamor but with a quiet sigh.

“Synchronic” stars Anthony Mackie (Falcon-Marvel Cinematic Universe) and Jamie Dorman (Fifty Shades Grey) in reality-defying whodunit thriller that had rocked the stage of the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival. The lead actors are supported by an ensemble that includes Katie Aselton and Ally Ioannides.

If you can read the official synopsis offered by Well Go USA, it will tell you that “Synchronic” relays the story from the perspective of two paramedics and long-time pals, Denis (Dorman) and Steve (Mackie), and starts with a murder scene at which both of them are called, there they discover a mysterious drug. The case becomes personal when Denis’s oldest daughter goes missing. The reality around them transcends into the wilderness when Steve discovers the true nature of the drug, and everything he knows about Physics gets thrown into a dustpan.

The director duo disapproved of Well Go USA’s decision to release the film in October, saying that it is an outrageous thing to do amid the ongoing devastating pandemic.

Well Go USA had announced earlier in September they would like to bring “Synchronic” to the theaters sometime in October.

Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead released a statement on social media in which they said that they themselves wouldn’t be going to the movie theaters and will not be asking anyone to do so either. They expounded their opinion by stating the fact that theatrical release will be against the whole scientific community, which is constantly preaching about the enclosed spaces and the spread of the virus.

However, they mentioned that they would be happy if the audience prefers to see it at the drive-ins. They further added that if anybody is still going to the indoor theaters, he or she should do so by adhering to the guidelines. They concluded their statement by thanking the fans and everyone involved in the film for ceaseless love and support.

Benson and Moorhead have co-directed four films, and “Synchronic” will be their fifth film. They started their career with the horror film Resolution, the script of which was penned by Benson. They tasted success with the romantic body horror venture Spring, which was also written by Benson. The film garnered considerable praise when it premiered at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival, the highlight of which was the public admiration from the likes of Guillermo Del Toro and Richard Linklater.

They have also done a segment called the “Bonestorm” in the film called V/H/S: Viral. However, their paragon work has to be the 2017 Netflix film The Endless in which they told the story about two brothers and their uncanny relationship with a UFO cult.

The film starred themselves as two brothers Justin and Aaron, with an ensemble supporting cast of Callie Hernandez, Tate Ellington, Lew Temple, Kira Powell, Emily Montague, Peter Cilella, James Jordan, and Shane Brady.

“The Endless” was the recipient of enormous exaltation from fans and critics alike and has been able to garner a cult following (one of the few modern films to do so) apart from being one of the most-watched films on Netflix.
